Introduction

The gaming landscape has evolved drastically over the past few decades, leading to fierce competition and comparison among major console manufacturers and end users. The major game players are Sony’s PlayStation, Microsoft’s Xbox and Nintendo’s Switch. They stand out amongst others and are said to be the titans of the industry.
Each platform has its unique offerings, strengths and weaknesses leading to the current debates about which is the greatest of all time(GOAT). This write up delves into the features, game libraries, online services, and overall gaming experiences of each platform.

Overview

Sony Playstation 5
The Playstation 5 (Ps5), released November 12th 2020, with the standard and digital variation. Powered by a customer 825GB SSD, the Ps5 boasts lightning fast load times, 4K gaming, up to 120 frames per second (FPS) and ray tracing capabilities.

XBOX SERIES X/S

With the constant competition between the Playstation and XBOX, the Xbox series X/S was released November 10th 2020, two days before the release of the Ps5. The series X is the most powerful console between the X and S Xbox, supporting 4K gaming up to 120 frame per second (FPS), while the series S targets 1440p at a lower price point.


The series X is a minimalist monolithic design while the series S is compact and white.

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch with its higher advantage of being a Mobile Gaming Console, was released on the 3rd of March 2017. The switch offers a hybrid experience, capable of handheld and docketed play but it lacks behind in raw power compared to the Ps5 and Xbox series.
